Q: Do I need to have a degree in Education?
A: bachelor's degree in any field is all you need to teach English in Korea.

Q: Do I have to speak Korean to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in South Korea?
A: No. There are translators and most of your students will speak some English. The main objective is to teach conversational English, not to spend too much time analyzing English sentences.

Q: Is there a fee?
A: No. We do not charge any fee for our services.

Q: Can I speak with someone who has completed his/her contract or is teaching English in Korea currently?
A: Yes. As soon as you are offered a job, you can speak directly with a teacher currently teaching English in South Korea or someone who has completed the contract.

Q: Who will pay for the flight to Korea?
A: Round trip economy airfare is provided with the one-year contract from the teacher¡¯s nearest airport to the international airport in Korea, and transportation from the airport to the teacher¡¯s residence in Korea. Upon completion of this contract, the teacher will be provided with a return ticket.

Q: Who takes care of the work visa to Korea?
A: We can help you to obtain a work visa (E-2 visa, a visa for teaching English in Korea). All you have to do is to mail or take your completed documents to the nearest Korean consulate. It usually takes 3 to 4 weeks before your visa is issued.

Q: What do I have to do to apply for this position to teach English in Korea?
A: First, please fill out the ¡°Online Application" or send us an email. One of our representatives will contact you by phone or email.

Q: Do I have to pay rent for my apartment?
A: No. You do not pay any rent, but you will be responsible for the utility bill. The school will provide you with furnished accommodations, either a two or three bedroom apartment, which is to be shared by two or three teachers and with a shared kitchen and bathroom. In either case, the teacher is given a single, separate bedroom.

Q: How long will it take before I am hired?
A: Usually the full process can be completed within two months from the receipt of the application. This time is needed to confirm your diploma, conduct a telephone interview, process your visa and make flight arrangements.

Q: How will I be paid?
A: You will be paid in Korean Won. If you set up a bank account your salary will be deposited automatically into your account. You will be able to wire money home from your bank.

Q: Is training provided?
A: Yes. Upon arrival in Korea, you will have an orientation period, before being expected to begin your regular teaching work. During your training you will have a chance to interact with other teachers and learn the techniques you'll need in class.

Q: What taxes do I have to pay?
A: Income tax and retirement taxes will be withheld from the salary in accordance with the Korean tax law. Korean income taxes are quite small and limited to around 6-8% of your salary.

Q: How much does medical insurance cost?
A: You will be covered by medical insurance under the Korean Medical Insurance Union, a private health organization. Half of the insurance premium will be paid by the employer and the other half by you (For reference, the current insurance premium rate is 2.24% of the monthly salary).

Q: Do I need to have any shots before I come to Korea to teach English?
A: Check with your doctor. None are required before coming to Korea.
